Well, just a mere few hours ago, I was informed that my sister-in-law's body ad rejected my new neice and/or nephew, they took it pretty hard, but the two are both willing to try again...


Bah, best not to sit and mope around about such things.


So, for other news...


I've recently taken a shine to Paradox Interactive's 'Hearts of Iron 2: Doomsday', simply because it fulfills that base need within me to conquer and wage war across the earth.

A geopolitical game, which has it's premise basely around 'Pick a country between 1936 and 1953, and go nuts!'. of course, the game has a strictly historical premise, and among the random events that occur during play, historical events will occur on the exact moment on the exact date in which they've happened in real-life.

For example, a history buff like myself playing the Republic of Spain in 1936 can expect the whole country to erupt into civil war in a atter of months, thus giving him time to prepare.

And, uniquely, you can alter what you know to be history.

For example, if one was playing as NAZI Germany, one could slowly, over time, throw out Hitler and his regime to re-install the Weimar republic, ABIDE by the Varseilles treaty and actually PREVENT WW2, something that could boggle the mind- 'What if the Germans were an allied nation?'

And, if I may be so bold to say it, unlike most WW2-esque games, the game doesn't focus around the warring powers of the era, it LITERALLY allows you to pick ANY nation from this time-frame, whereas, if you wanted to be Guatemala, ally the Mexicans, and charge right into Belize guns blazing, you freaking-well CAN. If you want to be Switzerland, and just chill out laughing at the world as it tears itself apart, freaking GO FOR IT.


Now, as far as graphics go, the game is nothing special, in fact, apart from the opening movie, the graphics are a bit behind the times, a falling point for those who get a woody from the quality of animation.

And, as any Geo-political gamer will tell you, if you're impatient, and you don't like complicated games, stay the FRACK away from this one, you'll get real bored, real fast.

The music for this game was nothing short of amazing, mostly Orchestral/Big-Band beats on a scale that would rival Call of Duty's masterpiece of a soundtrack... only if you like that sort of music, that is. XD

If you're a history-buff, a dreamer or just someone with WAY too much time on their ands, I'd reccomend picking this up, but hey, that's just me.
